HISTORY
- The construction of the George W. Hill Correctional Facility (GWHCF) was completed in 1998, being occupied in October of 1998.
- Community Education Centers was contracted by the Delaware County Prison Board just prior to January 2009 and assumed the responsibility of comprehensive and complete correctional services at GWHCF.
SERVICES
- CEC provides jail detention management services at this facility.
- Two full-time reentry counselors are available for discharge planning.
- The facility provides a psycho-education program, Prison Re-entry Education Program (PREP). This program addresses substance abuse and criminal addictive behaviors and is offered to voluntary and mandated offenders.
- GWHCF facilitates weekly Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
- HIV/AIDS education, counseling, and discharge planning are available.
- GWHCF offers Parenting classes, Intermediate Education, Basic Carpentry, Targeting Success, Workplace Essential Skills, Pre-Adult Basic Education, Adult Basic Education, GED Preparation, GED Testing, Computer Literacy, and Positive Living Assistance Network (PLAN - our mental health education program).
- Anger management, sex offender treatment, Houses of Healing and ACT 143 classes are available to voluntary and mandated offenders.
- Recreation services include physical exercise in the facility gym, activities/games, entertainment/films, and haircuts.
- Offenders can schedule time in the law library to work on the preparation of legal documents. Library services include a Notary Public and a leisure lending library.
- Religious services can be accessed through volunteers, faith-based community Initiatives, and a religious library.
- Work Release Program are available to qualified detainees.
- Mentoring services focusing on decision making are provided through volunteers authorized by administration.
