CEC’s Programs Recognized at CAMA Conference
BILOXI, MS (July 29, 2004)—Community Education Centers (CEC) correctional treatment programs were recognized for outstanding performance at the 17th Annual Conference of the Correctional Accreditation Managers Association (CAMA), which was held May 22-25 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Approximately fifty-five correctional facilities were awarded accreditation by the American Correctional Association (ACA) between 2003 and 2004 and were recognized for their achievement at the annual CAMA conference. Of the fifty-six programs recognized by the ACA panel at the conference, only nine received perfect scores on audit standards—and four of these nine were CEC facilities: Talbot Hall, in Kearny; Bo Robinson in Trenton, Tully House, in Newark; and The Harbor in Hoboken.

In addition to the four facilities recognized at the conference, four other CEC facilities achieved perfect scores following their most recent ACA audits: Coleman Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Liberty Hall in Indianapolis, Indiana; Tooley Hall in Denver, Colorado; and, Community Alternatives of El Paso County in Colorado Springs, Colorado

“Community Education Centers has had an outstanding year in achieving both initial accreditation and re-accreditation status by the American Correctional Association. We are proud recognized by ACA for our performance,” said John J. Clancy, President and CEO of Community Education Centers.

The American Correctional Association maintains standards, which serve as a national benchmark for the effective operation of correctional systems throughout the United States and are necessary to ensure that correctional facilities are operated professionally. These standards address services, programs, and operations essential to good correctional management, including administrative and fiscal controls, staff training and development, physical plant, safety and emergency procedures, sanitation, food service, and rules and discipline.
