New Jersey DOC Announces Intent to Renew Contracts
ROSELAND, NJ (July 21, 2004)—Community Education Centers (CEC) has announced that the New Jersey Department of Corrections (DOC) intends to award three-year contract renewals, with additional option years, to The Harbor, Tully House and Bo Robinson to continue to provide services at the facilities. CEC operates the facilities through a support service provider agreement with Education and Health Centers of America, Inc. (EHCA).
Under the terms of the proposed contracts, CEC will continue to provide assessment, treatment and work release programs to address the needs of the DOC-referred populations. The treatment programs include individual and group therapy, life skills training, educational programs and cognitive behavioral groups.
The proposed contracts were awarded after a bidding process that included the evaluation of Requests for Proposal that were submitted by the company for each of the facilities.
Bo Robinson opened in January 1997 and provides assessment and treatment to male and female residents. Bo Robinson also provides counseling, life-skills training and education programs, and when residents have met their goals, refers them to appropriate work-release or half-way house programs.
Tully House opened in June 1997 and provides substance abuse treatment and work-release to male residents. In addition to its focus on preparing residents to reintegrate into the community, Tully House provides life-skills training and education programs.
The Harbor was initially opened as a substance-abuse treatment center in 1983, but was renovated according to ACA standards and began to accept a correctional population in October of 1994. The Harbor offers substance abuse treatment and a work-release program.
