CEC Awarded Zoning Approval for New Facility in Newark
ROSELAND, NJ (March 12, 2003)--The Board of Adjustment of the City of Newark recently approved Community Education Centers (CEC) proposal to convert existing warehouse space for use as a community-based residential facility. CEC plans to open a girls treatment and education facility at the approved site, which will be similar to its Lipman Hall facility for boys.
The proposed 52,276 square foot facility, located on Frelinghuysen Avenue in Newark, will provide 106 beds as an alternative to incarceration. According to the Board of Adjustment, the unanimous decision was based on the belief that the granting of a variance for this beneficial use will benefit the City, the County and its residents.
Lipman Hall, is a state-of-the-art residential treatment center and on-site school for boys, located on an urban campus in Newark, New Jersey. The facility can serve up to 212 adolescent males with serious emotional and behavioral problems.
