CEC increases capacity of proposed facility to 750-beds in Colorado

ROSELAND, NJ (April 3, 2003)Community Education Centers (CEC) has announced plans to expand the capacity of the recently awarded pre-parole and parole revocation center in Colorado Springs, to accommodate a total of 750 offenders.

Subsequent to a recent visit to the companys East Coast facilities by senior Colorado Department of Corrections officials, it was mutually agreed upon by CEC and the Department of Corrections to expand the size of the facility from 500 to 750 beds. The DOC and CEC also agreed that the company would construct a separate womens unit at the facility.

Construction on the project will begin in the 3rd quarter of this year and the projected opening of the facility is scheduled for the 3rd quarter of 2004.
"This project reflects our commitment to assisting the Colorado DOC in dealing with the serious problem of increasing prison populations," said John Clancy, President and CEO of CEC.

The 750-bed facility will provide quality assessment, treatment and corrections services that measurably benefit each referred offender and provide optimum opportunity for community reintegration.

CEC has extensive experience treating State of Colorado offender populations at nine locations in Colorado through a total of more than 30 contracts with the Colorado DOC, the City and County of Denver, the Division of Youth Corrections and Community Corrections Boards throughout the State.
