CEC Commended for its Vision

Talbot Hall to Hold Resident Job Fair

KEARNY, NJ (May 11, 2004)— Assistant Commissioner Carrie Johnson of the New Jersey Department of Corrections recently commended the Talbot Hall program in Kearny, New Jersey for its “commitment and initiative in implementing programs that foster successful reintegration.”

Talbot Hall is currently making plans to host its first annual job fair, which is scheduled to be held in October 2004. The job fair will allow prospective employers to visit Talbot Hall and interview Alumni, as well as current residents.

“[Community Education Centers] is to be commended for its vision and interest in facilitating a job fair at the Talbot Hall facility,” said Assistant Commissioner Carrie Johnson. “I’d like to thank CEC for its progressive thinking particularly as it relates to prisoner reentry, as research reflects that employment is a major barrier to successful reintegration.”

Talbot Hall is a 500-bed Assessment and Treatment Center that opened in April of 1998 to provide rehabilitation services to male residents. Talbot Hall provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and life-skills training services to program participants. When residents reach their treatment goals, they are referred to an appropriate halfway house to begin participation in work-release programs. Talbot Hall, accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA), received scores of 100% on its most recent ACA audit.
