AYA-Montana is a high-impact, experiential program for at-risk boys and girls aged 13 to 18. The program has four phases: residential orientation, wilderness/back-country, residential treatment and community aftercare, the completion of which take approximately seven months.

AYA offers a 25-hour per week, accredited academic curriculum that provides a full-semester of credits. The wilderness/back-country phase teaches social skills, anger management and problem solving, as well as traditional subjects such as science, history and English. The residential phase provides a forum for adolescents to practice and build on the skills acquired in the wilderness phase. The focus is to prepare the adolescents for a successful return to their home, school and community. Toward that end, we also provide a minimum of thirty-five days of aftercare in conjunction with school counselors, while the adolescent is living at home and attending school. The mandatory family program works to return the adolescents to healthier environments.
