ROSELAND, NJ (July 1, 2001)--Community Education Centers (CEC) announced that Talbot Hall, Tully House, The Harbor and the Albert M. "Bo" Robinson Education and Training Center have received official accreditation from the American Correctional Association. Accreditation certificates were awarded at a ceremony held on April 29, 2001, at the convention of the Correctional Accreditation Managers Association (CAMA) of ACA, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Auditors from the American Correctional Association conducted rigorous on-site evaluations of each facility. Talbot Hall, Tully House and the Bo Robinson facility received accreditation for the first time, while The Harbor was re-accredited after an initial three-year period. The audit teams conducted thorough two-day inspections of each facility. Auditors evaluated each site on the basis of operations, financial controls, documentation files, clinical treatment, food services and medical services, as well as other factors considered relevant to the successful operation of a correctional treatment facility.
"We are gratified to have received this important and prestigious accreditation from the American Correctional Association," said John J. Clancy, President and CEO of Community Education Centers. "The high scores we received at each of the four facilities are a tribute to our dedicated staff, our first-class physical plants and the effectiveness of our treatment programs."
Tully House is a 340-bed treatment and work release facility located in Newark, New Jersey. Daryl Hooper serves as facility director.
The Harbor is a 152-bed treatment and work release facility in Hoboken, New Jersey. James Johnson is facility director.
The Albert M. "Bo" Robinson Education and Training Center is a 400-bed assessment and treatment center located in Trenton, New Jersey. Michael Oliver serves as director at the facility.
Talbot Hall is a 500-bed assessment and treatment center in Kearny, New Jersey. Alan Hoffman serves as director at Talbot Hall.
CEC currently operates five adult facilities in New Jersey that provide correctional rehabilitative services to more than 2,000 residents daily. In addition to the New Jersey facilities, the company owns and operates adult and juvenile treatment facilities in Colorado, New Hampshire, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Montana and Wyoming. New facilities will open later this year in Indiana, Pennsylvania and Newark, New Jersey.
"We will continue to seek accreditation at our other facilities," Clancy added. "Accreditation is part of our ongoing effort to provide the highest quality treatment programs in a safe and secure environment."
