Training Opportunities:
Residential Reentry and In-Prison Program Employees Training
All new, full time employees at CEC's Residential Reentry Centers and In-Prison Treatment Programs receive a 56-hour new employee orientation program which includes:
- Corporate history, philosophy goals and objectives
- Prison Rape Elimination Act & Cultural Diversity
- Employee Relations and Policy and Procedures
- General Rules of Conduct - Sexual Harassment
- Medical Information - HIPAA guidelines
- Security - Use of Force, Controls and Communications
- Secure Manage Overview
- Clinical Overview
1. Offender Behavior Management
2. Counseling Services
3. Suicide Prevention
(Part time staff receive a 24-hour training program on same topics)
Upon completing their new employee orientation, employees receive additional training in their unique job assignments. All new employees must complete an on-the-job training and complete additional elective training in an effort to meet a minimum of 120 hours of training for their first year of employment. On the job training consists of a minimum 40 hours of (OJT), which includes structured activity and provides cognitive and skill based training.
Annual In-Service Training
After one year of employment, all established CEC staff are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of in-service training in accordance with American Correctional Association standards each year. New CEC employees are required to complete a minimum of 24 additional hours of in-service training for their electives. These elective/ in-service training topics consist of and are not limited to:
- Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
- Therapeutic Community Model
- Anger Management and Domestic Violence
- Verbal Judo and De-escalation Techniques
- Crisis Intervention
- Disease of Addiction
- Physical Restraint Training and Pressure Point Control Tactics
- CPR/AED and Basic First Aid
- Classification and Clinical File Review
- Resident Manipulation
- Emergency Health Care Response
