Williams Street Center was established in February of 1977 and is licensed by the State Department of Human Services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division, as a Transitional Care Facility. Williams Street Center is able to provide substance abuse treatment to participants who are impaired from moderate to high levels due to drug use. Housing and treatment takes place in two inpatient buildings and two outpatient buildings. It has 84 residential, male beds and provides a DART (Drug and Alcohol Recovery Treatment) Program as well as Electronic Paging and Day Reporting Services for male and female participants. The Center's focus is to transition individuals back into their home communities. Toward that end the Center works with community agencies to meet the individual needs of each inpatient and outpatient program participant. Local agencies provide counseling, GED preparation, life-skills training, community resource referral and employment assistance.
