HISTORY

  • The Mothers In Reentry Program is a new program and began July 1st 2012.

SERVICES

  • The new reentry program represents a unique collaboration between the Delaware Department of Correction, the University of Delaware and Brandywine Counseling and Community Services to deliver an evidence-based, gender-responsive, trauma informed program tailored to the unique needs of women facing the multiple challenges of reentry when they leave prison.
  • The program provides genders specific reentry treatment services for approximately 130 female offenders with children at several locations in New Castle County, Delaware.
  • The primary goal of Mothers In Reentry will be to provide opportunities for women to mobilize and enhance existing strengths and to access personal and community resources.
  • Through reinforcing the offender's positive relationships with family and pro-social supports, and helping them to reinitiate maternal bonds with children, CEC aims to be a part of not only rebuilding the lives of the women in the program, but to fortifying the bonds between mothers and their children.
