HISTORY
- IYC was previously a Mental Health Center which closed in July of 1982 and reopened as an IYC in July of 1983 with 56 youth.
- CEC started delivering treatment services to 32 youth in 1996. In 2000 the RSAT program was created in order for an additional 32 youth to be able to receive treatment.
- Both programs have been integrated into a single program and continue to provide quality substance abuse treatment for youth.
SERVICES
- CEC provides substance abuse services to 64 juvenile males in a Modified Therapeutic Community setting.
- The program at IYC Harrisburg is licensed by the Illinois Department of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse to provide Level I Adolescent Outpatient and Level II Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Services.
- The program at IYC Harrisburg incorporates 3 phases of treatment including Orientation, Treatment, and Relapse Prevention.
- After being assessed for treatment an individualized treatment plan is developed for each youth.
- Youth are involved in individual and group counseling, substance abuse treatment, and educational services.
- Prior to a youth leaving the program, a discharge summary is prepared which includes an aftercare referral in order to ensure a continuum of care for all youth.
- The goal of the CEC program at Harrisburg is to provide an intensive treatment program that emphasizes abstinence and relapse prevention through the use of cognitive restructuring.
