Visitors must arrive by 7:00 PM to receive a visit. Also, every other weekend (on Saturdays and Sundays) the visiting hours begin at 8:00 AM and close at 8:30 PM. Call the prison to see which weekends this applies to.

HISTORY
- CEC operates six therapeutic communities (TC) within SCI-Pittsburgh.
- The first TC was opened on December 27, 2007 and the sixth TC began operating in May 2009.
- Referrals are made through the PA Department of Corrections.
SERVICES
- Each of the therapeutic communities focuses on cognitive restructuring and PA Department of Corrections approved curriculum is utilized.
- Treatment groups offered include Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), cognitive behavior therapy and criminal thinking errors.
- TC treatment programs are designed to prepare offenders for community reentry.
- Peer lead self-help groups including AA, NA and SOS are offered daily.
- CEC serves general population inmates, inmates serving State Intermediate Punishment sentence, parole violators, and inmates classified as Short Term Minimum offenders.
- Out-patient services encompass assessments, monitoring of self-help meetings and group counseling including Thinking for a Change, and violence prevention.
