Roseland, NJ,
Dec 19, 2006 -
Residents of the Casper Re-Entry Center’s (CRC) Therapeutic Community and CRC’s Alumni Association donated funds collected through a bake sale to four needy families of Casper, Wyoming. This heart warming story of generosity from CRC’s TC residents was covered by both local NBC and CBS local news affiliates.
“I am consistently impressed by the quality of public service from CRC TC residents. This time they really captured the spirit of the holidays and have a provided a great service to the citizens of Casper,” said Lisa Graham, Director of the Casper Re-Entry Center.
The delicious baked goods were sold by TC Alumni outside of a local store. CRC Alumni used the proceeds gained from the bake sale to purchase food and presents and will join CRC staff in delivering these good to four needy families in Casper.
“I am very proud of the accomplishments of these TC residents and Alumni. To raise such a large sum of money and donate it to needy families of Casper speaks very highly of these men’s characters,” said Jim Piro, Deputy Director of CRC.
CRC’s TC is a nine to twelve month, intensive, inpatient, drug and alcohol treatment program that focuses on substance abuse rehabilitation, education, and re-socialization of men exiting the criminal justice system. The program addresses criminal and addictive behaviors in order to successfully reintegrate residents back into their communities.
In September, members of CRC’s TC Alumni Association volunteered at the first annual Recovery Rocks Fest in Casper, Wyoming. The Alumni Association consists of graduates from the CRC’s TC. The festival highlighted individuals, organizations, and communities that support healthy living through recovery from substance abuse. Over 300 members of the community attended the event where TC Alumni provided setup and clean up services.
The Casper Re-Entry Center, Community Education Centers’ Wyoming-based residential treatment center, has a total capacity of 400-beds with three separate programs under one roof. One is a 200-bed adult community corrections program and operates as a work-release program for male and female adult offenders; another, a Therapeutic Community, operates as a secure treatment facility for up to 100 adult male offenders. Most recently, the Casper Re-Entry Center opened a Drug Court program to treat methamphetamine abuse that provides in-patient treatment, employment services, and aftercare services.
