Dr. Angela Mims Presents at International Reentry Conference and Reentry Panel

West Caldwell, NJ, Oct 30 -  Dr. Angela Mims, Director of Female Services at Community Education Centers, presented at the International Conference for Special Needs Offenders in Niagara Falls, Canada. The three day event brought together international experts who presented on a wide array of offender reentry topics.

“I was very proud that Dr. Mims represented CEC at this international conference. As we lead the way for gender specific reentry programming our female reentry programs have been found, through university-based research, to reduce recidivism by 50%,” said Dr. Robert Mackey, Senior Vice President for Clinical Services, Quality Assurance, and Research.

Dr. Mims presented on CEC’s unique style of gender specific programming for female offenders and discussed the unique barriers they face as they reenter society. Calling upon her extensive work with female offenders in New Jersey, Dr. Mims was able to share countless success stories of women who used the skills gained at CEC reentry programs to lead productive lives.

Dr. Mims also recently participated in the Technology Based Education from Prison to Community Conference at Rutgers University. She lead a panel on the topic, “The Road to Work from Prison to Community: The Role of Computer-Based Learning.”

“Technology combined with an experienced and trained staff plays a very important role in the delivery of CEC reentry treatment services,” said Dr. Mims.
