With this week’s award of a contract to operate the 1800-bed Delaware County jail, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania now accounts for nearly 10,000 of the approximately 30,000 individuals being served by CEC’s three divisions. Larger than New Jersey (3,944) and Texas (6,477), now 30% of CEC’s operations are located in Pennsylvania from Hoffman Hall in Philadelphia, to ADAPPT in Reading, to SCI Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.
“As CEC expands its operations throughout the country, we have experienced significant growth in Pennsylvania. As our customer base grows we look forward to continuing to provide quality services for the Commonwealth and its counties and cities that we proudly serve,” said John J. Clancy, Chairman and CEO of CEC.
In October, CEC opened Hoffman Hall, a 400-bed residential reentry center that serves offenders from the Philadelphia Prison System. Hoffman Hall was build adjacent to Coleman Hall, CEC’s 300-bed residential reentry center in Philadelphia. CEC now operates a total of 1,100 residential reentry beds in the Commonwealth serving agencies including the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (PA DOC), Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, and Bucks County.
CEC’s in-prison treatment services in Pennsylvania total over 7,000 slots provided for the PA DOC and Chester County. CEC has provided in-prison treatment programs to state offenders since 1996 and currently provides services at nine Commonwealth Correctional Institutions. SCI Pittsburg and SCI Chester are in-prison programs where CEC delivers intensive residential treatment services.
“Over 8,000 individuals in the Commonwealth receive CEC’s reentry treatment services each day. Whether it is our therapeutic community in-prison treatment services or our nationally recognized residential reentry centers, we take great pride in our ability to effectively reenter offenders back into their local communities,” added Mr. Clancy.
Across the Commonwealth, CEC provides meaningful and career oriented positions for nearly 1,000 individuals. CEC began operating in Pennsylvania in 2000 and has grown its operations to 19 locations.
Community Education Centers, Inc.
