Community Education Centers (CEC)’s Reading, Pennsylvania facility “ADAPPT” continues their extraordinary record of community service by volunteering with “City Light Ministry” of Reading. Residents and staff have regularly offered their help at this faith-based community outreach that focuses on helping urban youth and the homeless. At ADAPPT the importance of community service is strongly encouraged as an important factor in CEC’s reentry treatment programming.
“We are very pleased to be of help to this important service, which in turn is a great opportunity for our residents to give back,” said Michael Critchosin, Director of ADAPPT. “Our team experienced a rewarding work experience, and learned the merit of serving others less fortunate.”
ADAPPT Group Home Supervisor Donna Conley coordinated the residents and accompanying staff with City Light Ministry to volunteer every Wednesday to assist with a free community meal, prepping and distributing meals, and cleaning up the kitchen and dining room when done.
ADAPPT maintains an extensive record of community service which includes over one hundred hours monthly at the Hope Rescue Mission, and additional hours at other organizations including the Rudden Foundation, Salvation Army, Kennedy House and Meals on Wheels, as well as city cleanups year round.
The goal of the facility is to focus on treating the causes of criminal behavior and addiction thus reducing recidivism, and to provide residents with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead a productive lifestyle prior to reintegration into the community.
ADAPPT provides both inpatient and outpatient treatment services and is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs. Other Program and Service components include individual and group counseling, assessment, State Intermediate Punishment (SIP), Outpatient Alcohol & Drug Services (AOD), Group Home, Veteran’s Services, and Day Reporting.
