CEC Opens first TC in Wyoming
Washington, Apr 4, 2005 - CEC Opens First Therapeutic Community Program in Wyoming ROSELAND, NJ (April 1, 2005)-Community Education Centers (CEC) is pleased to announce that the Company's newest facility-the Casper Re-entry Center-has begun admitting Therapeutic Community residents. The Casper Re-entry Center is a 400-bed state-of-the-art residential substance abuse treatment facility in Casper, Wyoming that opened in February, 2005.
There are currently thirty-five residents participating in the TC program. The Wyoming Department of Corrections (DOC) is expected to refer additional inmates to the facility as part of its contract with CEC for a 100-bed TC program.
The Casper Re-entry Center's Therapeutic Community program provides a treatment milieu that motivates and assists residents in achieving meaningful goals. This includes helping residents develop basic values, behaviors and work skills that are consistent with the behaviors of responsible members of society. Staff members function as role models by demonstrating appropriate attitudes, behavior, and the shared values of the TC community. The TC program also provides substance abuse treatment and medical services for inmates under the custody of the Wyoming DOC.
"This facility is the first of its kind in Wyoming and is serving a much needed purpose in the State," said Gary Starbuck, Director of the Casper Re-entry Center. "I am pleased to be involved with this program at to help CEC carry out its mission to provide treatment services to the referred populations," Mr. Starbuck said.
The Casper Re-entry Center also houses 198 work-release residents referred by the Wyoming Department of Corrections in a separate area of the building.
Community Education Centers is a leading provider of treatment and education services for adult and juvenile correctional and social services populations throughout the United States. CEC operates residential and outpatient programs at 20 locations in eight states. CEC programs concentrate on alcohol and drug treatment, life-skills training, and educational and vocational instruction.
