Community Education Centers Welcomes Ari Zavaras as New Director of Colorado Operations
Denver, CO, May 5, 2006 - Community Education Centers (CEC) has announced that Ari Zavaras has been named the company's new Director of Colorado Operations.

Community Education Centers maintains a strong presence in the state of Colorado. CEC provides residential and non-residential treatment services and work release and day reporting services to diverse populations at five locations throughout the state. Most notably, Community Education Centers opened the 750-bed Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center, Colorado's largest reentry center, to provide treatment and correctional services to pre-release offenders and parole violators. Community Education Centers looks forward to expanding its presence in the state of Colorado.
Mr. Zavaras has over thirty five years of criminal justice related experience. He has served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Corrections, the Chief of Police of the Denver Police Department, and the Manager of Safety for the City of Denver.
During his tenure at the Colorado Department of Corrections (DOC), Mr. Zavaras oversaw every aspect of the Department, most importantly the community corrections and parole departments, as well as the emergency response and sheriff's departments. The largest prison build out in the history of Colorado occurred during Mr. Zavaras' tenure as head of the DOC. Additionally, Mr. Zavaras directed nearly half of a billion dollars of construction in the form of new prisons or expansion of existing prisons.
He graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in 1979 and holds numerous memberships in professional organizations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police; the Colorado Chiefs of Police Association; the American Correctional Association; and the Association of State Correctional Administration Mr. Zavaras will report to Dr. Robert Mackey, Chief Operating Officer of CEC.
