Tully House's Thriving Family Service Program Adds New Services

Roseland, NJ, May 10, 2006 - The Family Service Program at Tully House, Community Education Centers' New Jersey-based residential treatment center, is thriving and has added several new programs to its already extensive service menu.

The Tully House Family Service Program is a weekly forum consisting of educational lectures on family oriented reentry topics. Through the meetings, family members are encouraged to become involved a resident's treatment and reentry process.

"The Family Service Program is used to build foundations for residents. We provide information to families to better assist residents when they come home," said Danielle Darby, Family Services Coordinator.

The Family Service Program has experienced tremendous growth. In 2002, an average of 15 families participated in the Family Services Program each week. Currently, the program serves over 130 families weekly and over 600 participants each month.

At the meetings, Ms. Darby presents lectures on topics such as effective communication, healthier family relationships, addiction, recovery, and domestic violence. To supplement these lectures, Ms. Darby recently added several new services provided by Kean University interns including family therapy, couple's therapy, children's play therapy, reintegration therapy, and customized intense individual therapy. Ms. Darby has received positive feedback from both families and residents on these new services.

In addition, the Parenting Skills Program, facilitated by Romona Trancolov, heads into its third session. Currently servicing three families and seven residents, the program aims to improve interpersonal and parenting skills, communication, and problem solving techniques.
