Community Education Centers Announces 286-Bed Expansion of Delaney Hall

Roseland, NJ, May 12, 2006 - Community Education Centers (CEC) is pleased to announce a 286-bed expansion of Delaney Hall, the company's New Jersey-based residential treatment center. The 286-bed expansion will increase the total capacity of Delaney Hall to 1,012 beds.

"The Delaney Hall expansion represents Community Education Centers' commitment to providing quality reentry services to diverse correctional populations. CEC is proud of its ability to assist government bodies in need of quality programming that ultimately reduces recidivism," said John Clancy, President and CEO of CEC.

Research indicates that evidence-based treatment models such as CEC's Continuum of Care model - which incorporates cognitive-behavioral techniques - reduce recidivism, particularly in high-risk substance abusing offenders. CEC's Newark-based Delaney Hall facility is a prime example of this phenomenon. Since the opening of Delaney Hall in May of 2000, the number of admissions from Essex County to the New Jersey State prison system has decreased by more than 25 percent resulting in significant cost savings to the State. This reduction is particularly remarkable considering that historically Essex County has accounted for the highest percentage of adult admissions to the State prison system.

The Delaney Hall expansion will meet the needs of the three referring agencies, including the New Jersey State Parole Board, Essex County, and Union County. Currently, Delaney Hall provides substance abuse treatment, electronic monitoring, outpatient, and alumni services for 726 male and female residents referred by these agencies. Delaney Hall also provides gender-specific treatment services through its 138-bed women's program.

Community Education Centers is the largest provider of rehabilitative services to the criminal justice system in America. CEC provides a wide array of comprehensive treatment services for adults and juveniles through its more than 20 locations. The company operates programs for county, state and federal populations in New Jersey, Colorado, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Indiana, South Dakota, and South Carolina.
