CEC Awarded 400-bed Residential Reentry Contract from the Alabama Department of Corrections
Roseland, NJ, Dec 8, 2006 - Community Education Centers (CEC), Inc. announced today that the Alabama Department of Corrections has awarded the company a contract to provide assessment and reentry services to 400 offenders. The facility will be the first and largest of its kind in Alabama and will play an instrumental role in addressing the problems of recidivism and overcrowding for the State.
"We appreciate the confidence that the State of Alabama has shown in our company and we are excited about the opportunity to provide our cost-effective reentry services to address the State's needs. We look forward to experiencing the same success with the Alabama facility as we have in New Jersey - a reduced recidivism rate that benefits the individuals we treat and ultimately the taxpayers," said John Clancy, President and CEO of CEC.
The Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility will serve 350 male and 50 female offenders referred by the Alabama Department of Corrections. The program will address the reentry needs of each individual and will utilize CEC's continuum of care model. The treatment component will consist of individual assessments, individual and group counseling, substance abuse treatment, educational services, vocational training, skills-based trainings, family services, and aftercare/alumni services. The goal of the facility will be to provide an intensive treatment program that emphasizes relapse prevention and preparation for transfer into a work-release program.
"CEC has a proven track record of providing quality reentry services to State agencies that reduce recidivism. CEC looks forward to developing a strong partnership with the State of Alabama. As this facility prepares residents for reentering the workforce, the local economies and employers of Alabama will benefit as well," said William Palatucci, Senior Vice President/General Counsel of CEC.
CEC is the leading provider of rehabilitative and reentry services to the criminal justice system in America. CEC's facilities provide a full range of therapeutic residential and non-residential correctional services with an empirically documented record of reducing recidivism.
