CEC Staff to Present at Texas Restorative Justice Conference
Roseland, NJ, Mar 22, 2007 - Chris Petrozzi, CEC's Western Region Quality Manager, will participate in the National Conference on Restorative Justice at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas on June 24-27, 2007.
The purpose of this national conference is to bring together community leaders, politicians, educators, academics, practitioners, judges, faith leaders, policymakers, and concerned citizens to promote the implementation of restorative justice practices in communities across the nation as suited to local needs.
"I look forward to participating in this restorative justice conference. As CEC expands its wide array of services, the restorative justice model has and will continue to prove useful in our goal of reducing recidivism," said Chris Petrozzi.
Restorative justice is a theory of justice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused or revealed by criminal behavior. It is best accomplished through cooperative processes that include all stakeholders. Practices and programs reflecting restorative purposes will respond to crime by:
- identifying and taking steps to repair harm
- involving all stakeholders
- transforming the traditional relationship between communities and their governments in responding to crime
CEC is the leading provider of rehabilitative and reentry services to the criminal justice system in America. CEC's facilities provide a full range of therapeutic residential and non-residential correctional services with an empirically documented record of reducing recidivism.
