AYA South Carolina Recognized by National Park Service
Roseland, NJ, Mar 23, 2007 - Residents at CEC's AYA South Carolina were recognized by the National Park Service, a division of the U.S. Department of the Interior, for their volunteer services at Congaree National Park in Hopkins, South Carolina.
"I would like to thank the young men from Camp Aspen for helping prepare fire lines for our upcoming prescribed fire. They contributed over 400 individual volunteer hours and I could not have accomplished this project without their help," wrote John Torrence, Maintenance Project Supervisor at Congaree Park.
AYA South Carolina is a treatment program that serves juveniles aged 14 -17. The program provides comprehensive evaluation, residential treatment, an accredited educational program, an alternative education program, and vocational training. The program is short-term and was created for first or second offense adolescents.
"I am very proud of the volunteer work of our AYA resident as their work at Congaree National Park shows their dedication to community service and a deeper commitment to transforming their lives," said Erin Moffitt, Director at AYA South Carolina.
