CEC Awarded Oregon In-Prison Treatment Contract
Roseland, NJ, Aug 8, 2007 - The Oregon Department of Corrections has awarded Community Education Centers, Inc. (CEC) a contract to provide in-prison treatment services at the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution (DRCI) located in Madras, Oregon. The 106-bed program will be a highly structured modified therapeutic community designed and implemented to address the comprehensive, criminogenic needs of adult male inmates who have moderate to severe substance dependence problems.
"I am excited about our ability to expand treatment services in the State of Oregon. We look forward to continuing to provide quality treatment services to Oregon's offenders," said John J. Clancy, Chairman and CEO of CEC.
The in-prison treatment program will range from six to seven months. Each offender will receive a minimum of 20 hours of therapeutic contacts each week, and will participate in a minimum of 14 hours of structured activities each day of the week.
"We appreciate the confidence that the State of Oregon has shown in our company and are excited about the opportunity to expand our in-prison treatment services to address the State's needs," said Dr. Robert Mackey, Chief Operating Officer at CEC.
CEC's wholly-owned subsidiary, CiviGenics, Inc. has been operating a 48-bed adult male in-prison residential substance abuse treatment program at the Oregon State Penitentiary Minimum Facility since May 2006.
