Dr. Ralph Fretz and Dr. Angela Mims Present at ICCA Conference
West Caldwell, NJ, Oct 31, 2007 - Dr. Ralph Fretz, Director of Assessment and Research at Community Education Centers, Inc. (CEC), and Dr. Angela Mims, Administrator of Women's Programming and Services, at CEC's Bo-Robinson Assessment and Treatment Center, presented at the International Community Corrections Association Annual Research (ICCA) Conference in San Diego, California.
"I had a wonderful time presenting at this conference. CEC's evidence-based reentry model has consistently reduced reduce recidivism and I enjoy the opportunity to share our unique and effective approach with others," said Dr. Fretz.
Dr. Fretz presented on the topic, "Risk-Need -Responsivity (RNR) in the 21st Century: How to Assess these Principles and Properly Communicate the Assessment Data." Dr. Mims lead the workshop, "Reflections of Women Journeying Through Community Reintegration," which provided information on the experiences of women journeying through the transitioning process from the correctional system to the community.
"I was very excited about participating in this research conference. Recent research has further confirmed the effectiveness of Bo-Robinson's evidence-based female reentry programs," said Dr. Mims.
CEC's most recent study, "Female Offender Outcome Research," showed an average 50% reduction in recidivism for female offenders participating in the Bo-Robinson female offender reentry program compared to a similar group of female offenders from the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC).
"As female prison populations across America continue to climb, the positive findings in CEC's most recent study of female recidivism are very reassuring," said Dr. Mims.
