Liberty Hall Residents Donate Handmade Blankets to Local Children
West Caldwell, NJ, Nov 5, 2007 - Female residents of Liberty Hall, Community Education Centers' residential reentry center in Indianapolis, Indiana, donated handmade blankets to children from the Youth Emergency Services on Friday November 2nd. Sheriff Frank J. Anderson, Marion County Sheriff, was the guest of honor and presented over 60 blankets to John Kennedy, Directory of Youth Emergency Services.
"I would to thank Sheriff Anderson, the YES program and the female residents of Liberty Hall that made this collaborative effort one that will have a meaningful impact on the lives of children in the local area," said Tim Baltz, Director of Liberty Hall.
Liberty Hal is a residential reentry center that provides reentry treatment services to female offenders from Marion County. Liberty Hall recognizes that female offenders have different treatment and reentry needs and provides services such as sexual abuse and domestic violence treatment, trauma and single parenthood education, substance abuse treatment, all-female Women's Issues groups, and family services.
Liberty Hall coordinated the blanket donation through the YES program which works with local law enforcement and child protective services by coordinating care for children being removed from their homes for suspected abuse and neglect. More than 4,000 children are referred to YES every year and about half are under the age of 7. The blankets will be used for children entering the foster care system, giving them comfort and personal property in a time of crisis.
