Bo-Robinson Staff Member Starts Entrepreneurship Class

West Caldwell, NJ, Nov 29, 2007 - While leading small therapeutic groups at Bo-Robinson, CEC's 420-bed assessment and treatment center in Trenton, New Jersey, Senior Counselor William Taylor noticed a common response from residents-they were hungry for information on how to start their own businesses.

"I thought an entrepreneurship class would compliment the array of therapeutic and reentry services we currently provide at Bo-Robinson. The response from residents has been tremendous," said Senior Counselor Taylor.

Using his experience as a successful small business operator and business graduate student at Rutgers University, Senior Counselor Taylor designed a curriculum to meet the needs of the residents at Bo-Robinson. The four week class instructs residents how to start, finance and manage their own businesses.

"The class provides our residents with sources of information and assistance for those looking to start their own business with limited resources. Most important, the entrepreneurship class gives the residents an extra tool to prevent them from going back to jail," added Senior Counselor Taylor.

Senior Counselor Taylor started the class last spring and estimates that over 200 residents have participated. During the class residents review success story case studies, develop and present business plans and learn about legal, accounting, finance and marketing assistance programs.

"Counselor Taylor's entrepreneurship class has been a great success and furthers the mission of our reentry program at Bo-Robinson by enhances our goal of reducing offender recidivism." said Mike Oliver, Director of Bo-Robinson.
