Alumni Association Supports Local Agencies Through Holiday Drive, Holds Annual Dinner

Roseland, NJ, Dec 6, 2007 - December always brings the anticipation of the holidays and turns simple trips to the store into artic expeditions. For the CEC Alumni Association, the month of December brings a chance to give back to the community. This year the Alumni Association is holding a holiday drive to collect toys, food, clothing, winter items, and blankets to give to local agencies that provide support services to residents of CEC's New Jersey-based reentry programs. Agencies that will receive donations this year include the United Community Corporation, Joi's Angels, St. Rocco's Shelter, and Trenton Families Preservation House.

"During the holiday season, the Alumni Association takes great pride in being able to give back to the agencies that have supported our residents in their reentry efforts. Together, we are all working towards each offender's successful return to the community," said Arthur Townes, Director of Alumni Services.

The Alumni Association has located drop off boxes at Delaney Hall, Talbot Hall, Tully House, Bo-Robinson, and also the corporate office to accept donations. On December 5, the Alumni Association also held its annual Alumni Holiday Dinner at Talbot Hall in Kearny, New Jersey The dinner brought together new and old CEC alumni for a night of celebration and sharing.

"To see the faces and hear the stories of those who have succeeded and are living productive lives is a remarkable experience," added Director Townes.

The CEC Alumni Association assists offenders in their transition from treatment back into the community through the provision of supportive services as they face the obstacles and difficulties associated with remaining pro-social members of their families and community. The Alumni Association is comprised of former offenders who have successfully completed a CEC program.
