CEC Welcomes New Staff, Appointments

West Caldwell, NJ, Jan 9, 2008 - As the ball dropped on 2007, a new year began and with that came many new faces at Community Education Centers, bringing countless years of experience to America's largest reentry and in-prison treatment services provider. CEC would like to welcome the following staff members:

William F. Plantier, Director-Northeast Region
William F. Plantier has been appointed to Director of the Northeast Region. In this position, Mr. Plantier will oversee CEC's Northeast Operations including CEC's four residential reentry centers and two residential reentry and assessment centers in New Jersey. Mr. Plantier joins CEC after a 30 year career with the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJ DOC). While at the NJ DOC, Mr. Plantier served as the Director of the Division of Operations at the Central Office where he was responsible for the overall supervision of various units including the Release Notification Unit, Classification and Support Services Unit, Office of Interstate Services and the Parole Monitoring Unit. He also provided supervisory review of all potential releases involving sex offenders.

Prior to that position, Mr. Plantier served as an Administrator, Assistant Superintendent, Executive Assistant, Coordinator, and Director of Outpatient Services at the NJ DOC's Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center (ADTC), a 684-bed facility that provides treatment services for convicted sex offenders. While in these positions Mr. Plantier, secured the orderly management of ADTC and planned and implemented departmental and institutional policy. He is a board member of the New Jersey American Correctional Association.

Cornell J. Brunson, Director-Key North Program Delaware
Cornell J. Brunson has been hired as Director of CEC's Key North Program in Delaware. Prior to this position, Mr. Brunson served as the Director of Outpatient Services for Maryville Addiction Centers in Vineland, New Jersey, where he oversaw three outpatient substance abuse treatment centers.

Mr. Brunson has previously worked for the Institute of Development where he served as an Assistant Director and Correctional Medical Services where he served as a Regional Director of Substance Abuse Programs. He is affiliated with the Alcohol and Drug Certification Board of Delaware. Mr. Brunson received a Doctorate of Theology from Zoe Life Theological College in Philadelphia and a Master's Degree of Science from Springfield College in Delaware.

Melissa Weglarz, State Director of In-Prison Treatment Pennsylvania
Melissa Weglarz has been appointed to Director of In-Prison Treatment for the State of Pennsylvania. She will oversee the management of CEC's nearly 7,000 in-prison treatment slots in Pennsylvania. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Weglarz served as the Outpatient Program Director for CiviGenics, overseeing four in-prison treatment programs at State Correctional Institutions Rockview, Coal Township, Frackville and Retreat, where she supervised 10 staff, monitored contract compliance, and served as a liaison to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

Ms, Weglarz had previously worked as a Therapy Manager and Therapist at Gateway Rehabilitation Center in the State Correctional Institution at Huntington. She received at Bachelor's Degree of Science from Pennsylvania State University. Ms. Weglarz is a Conference Chair of the Community Corrections Association of Pennsylvania and has presented at the association's conferences.

Jay H. Sylvester, Director-In-Prison Treatment Program at SCI Chester
Jay H. Sylvester has been appointed to Director of CEC's largest in-prison treatment program in Pennsylvania at the State Correctional Institution in Chester. Mr. Sylvester will oversee the management of treatment services for 1150 offenders. Prior to this position, he served as a Program Director for CiviGenics at the State Correctional Institution in Graterford where he administered a substance abuse treatment service program for state offenders.

Mr. Sylvester has previously worked for Guadenzia as a Program Director and Northwestern Corporation as a Senior Therapist. He is a certified drug and alcohol counselor and received a Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences from Shippensburg University.
