Community Education Centers, Inc. Assumes Operations of Southern Correctional Systems, Inc.'s Colorado Operations
West Caldwell, NJ, May 16, 2008 - Community Education Centers, Inc., a leading provider of offender reentry and in-prison treatment services, announced today that it has assumed the Colorado operations of Oklahoma City-based Southern Corrections System, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avalon Correctional Services. The transaction has resulted in CEC assuming the operations of three residential reentry centers and two day reporting centers, increasing the company's already substantial footprint in the State of Colorado by 450-beds.
"CEC is committed to providing quality reentry treatment services designed to reduce recidivism in the State of Colorado and now we have the ability to have an even larger impact. I'm excited about CEC's increased ability to treat Colorado offenders and the growth potential for all facets of the company," said John J. Clancy, Chairman and CEO of CEC. "We appreciate the confidence Weld and Adams County and the Colorado Department of Corrections have shown in our company.
CEC has assumed operations at following facilities: The Phoenix Center in Henderson, Colorado, a 226-bed residential work release facility; The Loft House in Denver, Colorado, a 35-bed female residential halfway house; The Villa at Greeley in Greeley, Colorado, a 189-bed residential reentry center serving male and female residents; and two day reporting centers, The Villa Day Reporting Center in Greeley, Colorado and Community Services Center in Thornton, Colorado.
"I look forward to CEC's expanded operational capacity in Colorado. CEC sets the benchmark for operational excellence for offenders we serve. I would like to welcome our new staff and look forward to working with them to provide effective reentry services for the diverse correctional populations we serve," said Dr. Robert Mackey, Chief Operating Officer at Community Education Centers.
CEC has provided reentry treatment services in State of Colorado since 1999 and most notably operates the Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center, a 750-bed facility that is Colorado's largest reentry center. The Arapahoe County Residential Center (ACRC), CEC's 206-bed residential reentry center in Littleton, Colorado, has also been recognized by the Colorado Department for being an exceptional community corrections facility.
"CEC's exceptional track record in the State of Colorado is a result of the dedication and commitment of our exceptional staff. As we assume the operations of these new facilities we look forward to continued successes," said Kevin Duckworth, Mountain Region Manager at Community Education Centers.
