Alumni Testify at NJ Reentry Hearing
West Caldwell, NJ, Dec 10, 2008 - Arthur Townes, Director of the CEC Alumni Association, and several alumni of The Albert M. Bo Robinson Assessment and Treatment Center, CEC's 900-bed reentry center in Trenton, New Jersey, testified at the second 'Counting the Costs Hearings' sponsored by New Jersey State Assembly Majority Leader Bonnie Watson Coleman.
"The alumni who will testify today all graduated CEC's Trenton-based reentry center, The Albert M. "Bo" Robison Assessment and Treatment Center. They are living proof that facilities like Bo Robinson can turn lives around. These alumni are now productive members of society. They are gainfully employed. They pay taxes, and contribute to their communities," said Director Townes.
Bo Robinson alumni shared their experiences and stories of successful reentry after their completion of the CEC reentry treatment program. Alumni now work as youth counselors, addiction counselors, and have started their own businesses.
"Our experience has shown us that if you help offenders find jobs and housing, continue to link them to substance abuse treatment, continue to support them after they are released that you will significantly increase their chances of these offenders not reoffending," added Director Townes.
CEC alumni will also testify at the next hearing in Newark, NJ.
