California In-Prison Treatment Services Expand

West Caldwell, NJ, Dec 29, 2008 - CEC was awarded a contract to provide a 250-bed therapeutic community (TC) program at the Tehachapi Correctional Institution for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The in-prison treatment program is administered in a new building specially designed for the TC program.

"CEC now operates nearly 1,000 in-prison treatment slots for the CDCR designed to provide effective reentry programming to reduce California's prison population, said Paul Billeci, Western Regional Manager at CEC.

Diane Clayton, Program Director at Kern Valley State Prison, has been named the Director of the new program. In California, CEC operates a 256-bed treatment program at the Kern Valley State Prison, a 250-bed treatment program at the Correctional Training Facility, and a 200-bed treatment program at the California Institute for Men. CEC also operates the Long Beach Community Correctional Re-Entry Center, a 112-bed residential reentry center for the CDCR.
