Logan Hall Residents and Alumni Make Newark Green

West Caldwell, NJ, Apr 7 - Seven parolees from Logan Hall joined Altorice Frazier, Alumni Coordinator and numerous CEC alumni to plant 51 flowering and shade trees on University Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. CEC joined forces with the New Jersey State Parole Board, the New Jersey Tree Foundation, and Rutgers University to provide this important urban renewal effort for the city.

"Planting a tree is the perfect symbol for community service. In a few years, these trees will provide shade and be a source of inspiration and beauty for the City of Newark. I want to thank the parolees and alumni for their efforts today," said Arthur Townes, Alumni Association Director.

The trees were donated by the New Jersey Tree Foundation through their Newark Renaissance Trees program and included purple leaf plum trees, Japanese tree lilacs, ginkgos, London plane trees and Rutgers cultivar pink flowering dogwoods.

Logan Hall is CEC's 600-bed residential reentry center located in Newark, New Jersey that provides treatment services including life skills training, job readiness programs, substance abuse treatment, individualized counseling, and GED preparation.
