Liberty Hall Case Manager Appears as Expert Guest on Radio Show ���Crime Beat'
West Caldwell, NJ, Jun 16 - Cindy Moriarity, Case Manager at Liberty Hall, Community Education Centers' (CEC) 300-bed residential reentry center for female offenders in Indianapolis, represented the facility on a live radio show regarding addiction treatment. The show 'Crime Beat with Carl Brizzi," "features experts from Indiana and across the globe, including state and federal law enforcement, bestselling authors, renowned criminologists, leading attorneys, and nationally recognized researchers in topics related to crime, public safety law and current events," and is produced for the Marion County Prosecutors Office.
"The gender specific treatment services provide for Marion County female offenders are designed to meet the specific needs of female offenders. Cindy Moriarity has been employed at Liberty Hall, first serving as a program specialist with the men's work release program and then as a case manager for the women from Marion County Jail. She also teaches gender specific training and was recently name reentry specialist for a new program that will be starting with a 2 year grant from the Mayor's office. Prior to working at Liberty Hall, she was employed for 25 years as a juvenile probation officer in Marion and Delaware counties in Indiana. She is a graduate of Ball State University and maintains a B.S in both Social Work and Criminal Justice Majors.
Liberty Hall originally opened in November of 2001 as an all male Technical Rule Violator (TRV) Center. After a transition in July of 2006 to an all female medium secure correctional facility Liberty Hall presently has the capacity to house 250 females referred from Marion County, Indiana. Liberty Hall is accredited by the American Correctional Association and the Department of Mental Health Division of Addiction Services. Having the awareness that female residents have different treatment and reentry needs, Liberty Hall has a comprehensive gender-specific treatment plan designed to address specific issues that confront women when preparing for a return to the community.
Life skills training and case management groups are the basis for the program to assist in issues that are unique to women such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, trauma, and single parenthood. The program consists of substance abuse treatment, parenting and child development, life skills, educational skills, and health services. Daily classes are offered in anger management, drug and alcohol counseling, relapse prevention, parenting skills, GED preparation, and family services. Outside agencies also provide information on employment, stress reduction, nutrition, and relationships. Presently new aftercare programs are being introduced which assist the resident with housing, employment, daycare, counseling and education.
Liberty Hall is located in downtown Indianapolis and provides easy access to bus routes and many community resource agencies. The building houses lecture halls, counseling and group rooms, a kitchen and cafeteria, dormitories, and an outdoor recreation area.
