Wyoming Alumni Association Holds Annual BBQ
West Caldwell, NJ, Jul 21 - Over 150 alumni and families attended the CEC Alumni Association barbeque in Wyoming on July 25th, in Casper, Wyoming at the North Casper Park, Shelter #1 (Byron Stock Trail and East K Street). The event began at 10 a.m. and included volleyball, frisbee, horseshoes, softball, soccer, kids games, a dunk tank, and an award presentation to the current Wyoming Alumni President, Dwayne Martinez. The event was also covered by two local news channels.
"This barbeque marks the third consecutive year for our growing Wyoming Alumni Association. I would like to congratulate all of the men who return to this event for choosing to use the reentry tools we have provided them to lead positive lives," said Patrick Peerenboom, Director of the Casper Re-Entry Center.
The CEC Alumni Association assists offenders in their transition from treatment back into the community through the provision of supportive services as they face the obstacles and difficulties associated with remaining pro-social members of their families and community. The Alumni Association is comprised of former offenders who have successfully completed a CEC program.
Wyoming alumni are graduates of the Casper Re-Entry Center (CRC), CEC's 400-bed residential reentry center in Casper, Wyoming. The CRC population participates in wide variety of program depending on their referring agency including work release, a therapeutic community, and residential treatment. Offenders are referred from the Wyoming Department of Corrections, Natrona County & City, as well as the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The facility also has a specialized program for Native Americans and operates a day reporting center. CRC is accredited by the American Correctional Association.
