Alumni Return to Delaware Therapeutic Community Program to Celebrate Recovery Month
West Caldwell, NJ, Sep 24, 2009 - Female offenders and alumni of Community Education Centers, Inc's therapeutic community (TC) at the Crest North for Women's Correctional Recovery Program held a ceremony in support of Recovery Month on Sept 24. CEC operates the 88-bed TC for the Delaware Department of Corrections and prepares female offenders for community reentry. September is the nationally recognized Recovery Month which celebrates efforts being made to effectively treat addiction.
"As these female offenders continue on their journey toward recovery and rehabilitation, I would like to congratulate them on their efforts. Using the skills they have learned in the Crest North TC will help them lead productive lives and become contributing members of Delaware's communities," said Dr. Robert Mackey, Senior Vice President at CEC.
The event, "Recovery Day" recognized the efforts the TC participants have made to turn their lives around by applying the life skills they have learned. The day's events included alumni speakers who graduated from the program and returned to share their success stories of life on the outside. In addition, a recovery play, songs and poems were shared by members of the therapeutic community.
"This day really captures what the TC model is all about. I would like to congratulate the alumni of the Crest North Program who are now leading successful and law abiding lives," added Dr. Mackey.
