CEC Holds First Graduation Ceremony for Bureau of Indian Affairs Reentry Treatment Program
West Caldwell, NJ, Oct 21, 2009 - A graduation ceremony for fourteen residents from Community Education Centers, Inc.'s (CEC) Residential Treatment Program (RTP) provided for the Bureau of Indian Affairs' (BIA) was held today at the Casper Re-Entry in Casper, Wyoming. The 64-bed program combines CEC's evidence-based assessment and treatment model with evidence-based and traditional Native American treatment services to change criminal thinking and behaviors.
"Today's graduation marks the successful partnership between CEC and the BIA and most important, a significant point on each of these men's journeys toward recovery. The skills learned at the Casper Re-Entry Center are designed to prepare each offender for successful community reintegration," said Dr. Robert Mackey, Senior Vice President at CEC.
During the ceremony, the Casper College presented GEDs to six treatment program residents. Several residents were also honored for being accepted into college and will begin classes in January 2010. Services of the RTP include the Meth Matrix, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), substance abuse treatment, life skills training, All Nations groups (similar to AA/NA), Talking Circles, Red Road to Recovery, Price of Freedom, individual counseling sessions, 12-Step Medicine Wheel, parenting and fatherhood classes, Wellbriety classes, White Bison curriculum, and Price of Therapy groups. The reentry services are presented in group lecture and individual counseling sessions.
