Newton County Correctional Facility Newest Addition to CEC's Secure Facilities Division

West Caldwell, NJ, Nov 11, 2009 - The Newton County Correctional Facility (NCCF) in Newton, Texas is the newest addition to Community Education Centers, Inc.'s (CEC) Secure Facilities Division. CEC will provide jail/detention management services at the 924-bed facility which represents the eighteenth facility in the company's Secure Facilities Division.

"I would like to thank the confidence that Newton County and the additional agencies we provide services for at this facility have shown our company. We look forward to providing quality detention management services that will be a source of pride for the County," said John J. Clancy, Chairman and CEO of CEC.

The facility currently provides detention management services for Harris and Newton Counties in Texas and also serves local jurisdictions. During the ramp up phase NCCF will accept 100 to 125 offenders per week.

"Newton County is very important in our overall plan to provide secure housing for Harris County offenders. The facility houses the portion that is designated as ready for Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and that interaction is critical to our plan. We are very fortunate to have Greg Dawson as the Warden because not only is he a local citizen, he is also a very experienced TDCJ retiree. We have great plans and a very bright future for the Newton Facility," says Jim Shaw, Director of Secure Facilities Division for CEC.

CEC named 28-year corrections veteran Gregg Dawson as warden of the NCCF. Warden Dawson has served as Warden and Assistant Warden at several Texas jail units in Tyler County, Jasper County and Liberty County.

"Everything is going very well so far and I am very pleased to have passed our first inspection at this early stage. I am very encouraged about the progress here at Newton County," said Warden Dawson.
