CEC Employees Make Donations for Slain Oregon
Correctional Officer

West Caldwell, NJ January 04 -
Employees of CEC's in-prison treatment program at Oregon's Deer Ridge Correctional Institution generously donated to help the family of slain Correctional Officer Buddy Herron, who was killed in the line of duty early December.

"I want to thank the giving spirit of our Oregon staff. Their dedication and commitment to quality and their general care towards others sets a true example of the character of CEC employees," said Kevin Duckworth, Western Region Manager at CEC.

Officer Herron was murdered when he stopped on the side of the road to help a stranded motorist. He was able to call 911 and report the incident, but later died at the hospital. The police apprehended the suspect in a car chase. Buddy Herron was an officer at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) in Pendleton.

Officer Herron leaves behind a wife, four children and one granddaughter. Staff at Deer Ridge Correctional Minimum and CEC Phoenix Treatment Program unanimously elected to make donations to the family.
