Casper Re-Entry Center Holds Ceremony for Therapeutic Community Graduates
West Caldwell, NJ February 13 -
The Casper Re-Entry Center (CRC), CEC's 400-bed residential reentry center in Casper, Wyoming held a graduation ceremony for twelve Wyoming Department of Corrections residents in its Therapeutic Community (TC) program on January 26, 2012. The goal of CRC's TC is to assist men and women in becoming law abiding citizens while living healthy and drug free lives. "CEC takes great pride in the Therapeutic Community services it provides for the Wyoming Department of Corrections. The tools learned at the Casper Re-Entry Center have prepared each graduate for successful community reentry into WyomingĂs communities," said Dr. Robert Mackey, Senior Vice President for Clinical Services, Quality Assurance, and Research.
Since opening in 2005, nearly 600 residents have graduated from the TC program. CRC's TC treatment model is designed as a nine to twelve month, intensive, inpatient, drug and alcohol program that program focuses on substance abuse rehabilitation, education, and re-socialization of men, coming out of the criminal justice system. The program is designed to address criminal and addictive behavior in order to successfully reintegrate residents back into their communities.
"CRC TC's offers a unique opportunity for its residents to succeed. We have developed an extensive Alumni Association with this group that provides support services after they are released to further ensure their success," said Jim Piro, Deputy Director of the TC.
The CRC population participates in wide variety of program depending on their referring agency including work release, a therapeutic community, and residential treatment. Offenders are referred from the Wyoming Department of Corrections, Natrona County & City, as well as the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The facility also has a specialized program for Native Americans and operates a day reporting center. CRC is accredited by the American Correctional Association.
Residents of the CRC are able to receive a wide array of reentry services including substance abuse treatment, mental health, job skills, life skills, adult basic education, GED and college studies, Fatherhood Initiative program, NA/AA groups, alumni program, and family counseling and anger management.
