Illinois Re-Awards CEC Two In-Prison Treatment Contracts
West Caldwell, NJ April 8 -
The company was recently re-awarded two contracts from the State of Illinois. CEC will continue to provide therapeutic community services at the 671-bed Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center (SWICC) and also at the IYC Harrisburg for the Illinois DOC/Division of Juvenile Justice.
“I am thankful for the continued confidence the Illinois Department of Corrections continues to show to our company,” said John J. Clancy, Chairman and CEO. “CEC looks forward to continuing to provide reentry treatment services that help offenders choose a positive lifestyle and assist in a successful reintegration into their communities.”
The SWICC program maintains a capacity for 716-beds with a specialized unit for methamphetamine treatment, a unique program which has shown positive results in recent research studies. Additional services at SWICC include substance abuse treatment, counseling, family services, a Certified Associate Addictions Professionals (CAAP) program and medical services.
AT SWICC, CEC has also partnered with the IDOC to conduct sessions in Therapeutic Community Experiential training (TCE) that helps staff and vendors understand the Therapeutic Community (TC) model of treatment and how it works. The sessions were conducted by expert researchers in the field of correctional treatment.
In 2012, CEC’s TC at SWICC earned a 100% score on an Illinois Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA) Compliance Audit, which provides licensure for the program.
The IYC program at Harrisburg, Illinois has a capacity to accommodate 64 male youths and is designed for 3 one year renewals. It is licensed by the Illinois Department of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse to provide Level I Adolescent Outpatient and Level II Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Services. Young participants are provided with substance abuse treatment and educational services.
Community Education Centers, Inc. (CEC) is the leading provider of offender reentry and in-prison treatment services in America, operating in 17 states and the Commonwealth of Bermuda. CEC provides a full range of therapeutic residential and non-residential reentry services with a documented record of reducing recidivism.
