Talbot Hosts “Creative Day” To Supplement Reentry Treatment Services
West Caldwell, NJ September 10 -
A celebration of creative energy and talent took place at Talbot Hall’s “Creative Day” which marked the end of summer at CEC’s residential assessment center in Kearny, New Jersey. Residents participated in outstanding performances that served as meaningful outlets of personal expression through music, dance and song.
“The residents responded in a positive manner after participating and attending Creative Day,” said Sheila Leonardo, Director of Talbot Hall. “Participation in activities helps on an educational, social and physical level to encourage healthy thinking and promote positive behavior. We are pleased to provide this opportunity that allows individuals to experience creative thinking and pro-social activity.”
There was a full house in the large lecture hall as staff, residents and alumni came together to enjoy each other’s creative talents. Residents wrote & sang their own songs, played guitar, and provided musical accompaniment for others. Staff Counselor Larry Robinson provided a dance which brought the crowd to its feet, and CEC Alumni coordinator Deynia Edwards helped coordinate the show, sang a moving ballad with her strong rhythmic voice.
The Master of Ceremonies reminded the crowd that everyone has something to give, and thanked Ms. Leonardo and staff for the opportunity to participate in the Talbot Hall program.
