Philadelphia Staff Volunteer at Philabundance

West Caldwell, NJ November 13 -
A group of over thirty employees from three Philadelphia facilities arrived ready to work at Philabundance, an organization that feeds the hungry throughout the Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Staff from Philadelphia-based reentry centers Coleman Hall, Hoffman Hall and Oxford spent the day sorting and packing food to be distributed to food cupboards, emergency kitchens and shelters that Philabundance supports through their Hunger Relief Center in South Philadelphia.

“We are very proud of the staff at Coleman, Hoffman and Oxford for volunteering at Philabundance,” said Steve Tomlin, Vice President of the Eastern Region. “We have great staff at our Philadelphia facilities who consistently volunteer their time to bring service to local community organizations, upholding CEC’s commitment to giving back to the community.”

Included in this first annual volunteer effort were Dr. Bertee Thomas Jr., Campus Administrator, Coleman & Hoffman Halls; Al Stuhl, Philadelphia Community Relations Manager; Agnes Brown, CEC Oxford Director; and Fred Shapiro, Coleman Hall Director. A special thanks goes to Coleman Hall Administrative Assistant Ms. Miller for her tireless efforts in coordinating participation for the event.

2014 is the thirty year anniversary of the successful efforts of Philabundance to distribute food to the hungry in the Delaware Valley. CEC was proud to celebrate this prestigious landmark with a volunteer effort. A great time was had by all and plans are in the mix to attend next year as well.
