Pennsylvania Reentry Center Helps Clear Snow In Reading
West Caldwell, NJ March 13 -
ADAPPT is a 180-bed residential reentry facility and day reporting center located in Reading, Pennsylvania that provides services to pre-release and parole community correction offenders referred from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Board of Probation & Parole. In February, the facility and its residents provided over 400 volunteer hours to local non-profit agencies throughout the city. After an early March snowstorm, the City of Reading called ADAPPT and asked if they could help clear sidewalks and assist with snow removal. The answer came quickly from Facility Director Michael Critchosin, “When can we start.”
“We consider community service for offenders to be a very important component of reentry,” added Director Critchosin. “By assisting our town, our residents have a chance to help the community and develop skills for working with others and team-building.”
Donna Conely, Group Home Supervisor for ADAPPT, facilitated the effort that included six volunteer residents and several staff that accompanied the group. ADAPPT staff and residents worked all day to clear walkways and public areas throughout Reading. Throughout the year, ADAPPT also assists Reading at other cleanup projects throughout the city.
“We make it a point to be a strong member of our community and take great pride in our efforts throughout the City of Reading,” added Director Critchosin.
ADAPPT provides a comprehensive program of treatment to offender populations. Different levels of treatment are administered to residents in an residential reentry program, a group home and a day reporting center. ADAPPT is also a Pennsylvania Department of Health licensed residential facility.
