NEW PROGRAMS AWARDED IN CA
West Caldwell, NJ July 1 -
CEC is proud to welcome two new programs to the In-Prison Treatment Services division from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), as well as the renewal of an existing program. New services will be provided at the Valley State Prison (VSP) in Chowchilla for 516-beds, and the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF-CSP), in Corcoran, for 532-beds. These new programs will be the largest in-prison treatment locations for CEC in California. Each of the new programs will be opening under a two-year contract commencing July 1, followed by three potential one-year extensions. The renewal for the California Men’s Colony (CMC) for 216-beds in San Luis Obispo will also begin on July 1 under the same terms.
“We are extremely pleased to provide CEC’s In-Prison Treatment model of services to these new locations, and proud of our commitment to delivering quality evidence-based programming to locations inside CDCR state correctional facilities,” said Dan Lane, State Director of California.
The In-Prison treatment model provided in California utilizes targeted Cognitive Behavioral treatment model required by CDCR to meet the assessed risks and needs of the participants. Designed in coordination with leading experts in the field, CEC’s approach conforms to best practices and accreditation standards while being uniquely designed for specific venues. Through specialized programming designed on a multi-phased system, group participants travel together through the whole treatment process. Research shows that groups that advance through the treatment process together show significant results regarding the improvement of pro-social and behavior skills.
Services provided at these “behind-the-walls” locations focus on four distinct CBT modalities: substance abuse, criminal thinking, anger management and family relationships and encompass additional rehabilitative factors including diagnostic and risk assessments, parenting skills, job readiness, mental health treatment and relapse prevention.
These new programs join the CEC In-Prison Treatment Services roster to total six programs in California and one residential reentry program located in Long Beach, as well as operation of the Specialized Treatment Optimized Programming (STOP) Placement Office for Los Angeles County. CEC began providing services to inmates referred from CDCR in 2001 and is pleased to continue serving California by readying offenders to live productive lives.
The company also operates in-prison treatment programs in conjunction with government agencies in Florida, Illinois, Oregon, Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth of Bermuda.
CEC is the leading provider of offender reentry, in-prison treatment and jail management services in America, operating in 16 states and the Commonwealth of Bermuda. CEC provides a full range of therapeutic residential and non-residential reentry services with a documented record of reducing recidivism.
