STORM TEAM COVERAGE FROM MEDICAL STAFF AT GEORGE HILL IN PA
West Caldwell, NJ February 9 -
“Let it snow!” was the mantra of the medical team at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, over the weekend of January 23rd. The dedicated medical team never skipped a beat to provide coverage to the inmates of the 1931-bed facility throughout one of the area’s worst storms in recent history. Several employees of the CEC medical team started a shift on Friday night and did not leave the facility until Sunday or Monday, enabling the facility to be completely covered by medical staff throughout the duration of the storm and beyond. Kristen Grady, HSA for the facility, coordinated the coverage effort with Mariel Trimble RN, DON, and Bruce St.Clair, AHSA.
“The medical management team worked collaboratively with the Warden to ensure medical staff had the supplies and coverage needed for this challenging situation,” said Linda Pansulla, Director of Medical Operations for CEC. “Our HSA, Kristen Grady, is dedicated to a team approach to medical operations.” The medical management team stayed in constant contact to assure there was no lapse in medical services for the inmates. This staff needs to be commended, and we are very grateful to them for their dedication.”
Medical staff Odion Ologbauma NP, Jennifer Holly RN, Shelley Mealo RN, Dorothy Murry RN, Myeshia Foster LPN, Taneshia Gibson LPN, Gifty Nyinaku LPN, Serene Eaddy LPN, and Falon White LPN, worked up to 48 hours continuously. Claudette Williams RN, arrived for work on Friday night and did not leave until Monday morning.
“Everything went smoothly in the medical department, work went on as normal thanks to our dedicated nursing staff,” said Kristen Grady, HSA.
The weekend storm brought 22-26” of snow to the area making it almost impossible for weekend workers to commute to work through hazardous conditions. Many of the dedicated medical team left their families home in the storm to provide coverage delivering medical services at the job. Complete nursing coverage was maintained, as well as a mid-level provider who was able to prescribe medication.
