CEC classrooms provide an atmosphere of encouragement and positive reinforcement to assist the adult learner. When available, new educational technology may be used with residents. However, CEC understands that teacher-to-resident and resident-to-resident relationships in classroom settings are vital to the success of the overall educational process.

At many facilities, experienced and certified teachers assist the residents to prepare for the General Educational Development (GED) test. Residents are guided through the entire process of preparation with support to take the test. Transportation and security are provided, when appropriate.
