Family Services

Individual Therapy

There may be times when the resident seeks therapy for him/herself as an individual. Within the CEC program, individual therapy is conducted from a family perspective as well. Often times, the individual therapy addresses the family/couple issues that impact the resident and his level of functioning. In time, the individual therapy may come to involve the resident's family.

This service is often performed weekly, during a 50 minute session. It may be continued throughout the duration of the resident's stay, or end early due to the resident's request, goal accomplishment, or non-compliance.

Preparation for Continuing Care

One issue that is most critical to the program philosophy is the acceptance that most families will need to continue to receive treatment after their work with the CEC program. It is anticipated that introducing these families to the experience of counseling, treating them with dignity and respect, and modeling appropriate behavior within a trustworthy and positive relationship, will increase their likelihood of seeking continuing treatment in the community.
