CABH is accredited with the American Correctional Association (ACA) scoring a rating of 100% on mandatory and non-mandatory standards.

Community Alternatives of the Black Hills (CABH) is a residential reentry facility that offers a multitude of varied programs and services to assist the resident with a successful transition back to the community. Residents are provided with evidence-based programming that is designed to create a productive lifestyle prior to reintegration to the community.

Services offered at CABH include psycho-educational groups (life skills, family dynamics, self-ffficacy), family services, employment skills classes, transition skills, cognitive behavioral group, Criminal Thinking, gender-specific issues, and employment opportunities. CABH maintains contracts with the community to transport residents on-site for mental health and substance abuse treatment.

The facility serves a large Native American population and takes pride in including services that are sensitive to the culture. Methods for healing and recovery from addiction designed by Native Americans are practiced at CABH including Talking Circle, Sweat Lodge and Red Road Recovery Groups. CABH also works in partnership with the Sioux San Indian Hospital in Rapid City which provides residents with a free membership for access to the Wellness Center and Health & Life Balance resources. The Hospital provides continuous cultural activities which are open to residents.
